Place to Visit in Kollam



 
     Kollam, known for its must see pretty backwaters, green fields, tropical crops, lush forests and serene lakes and rivers is a destination not to be missed out. The city is the centre of India's cashew processing industry, which draws a number of shopaholics from all over the world. There are plenty of shopping areas and town markets which include shops selling raw and processed cashew nuts.


 
Lighthouse:
The lighthouse stands to an amazing height of 144 feet. The picturesque view of the sea from the place where the lighthouse stands is breathtaking. In the vicinity lies the Portuguese Fort.


Chavara:
Chavara is one of the important industrialized zones in the state of Kerala. There are large mineral deposits located in the Chavara region.


Mayyanad:
Mayyanad is noted for its shrines and temples. The most important of the nine temples here is the Subramanya temple at Umayanallor.


Punalur: 
The city is known as the town of water for the simple reason that river Kallada flows through it. The town consists of the oldest bridge in the Indian history which was constructed during the British Empire in 1877.


Oachira: 
Oachira lies on the Kollam-Alappuzha Road. Locals of the area worship Lord Parabrahman who's neither the idol or the temple is present at the site.


Alumkadavu: 
A famous picnic spot located near Kolam-Alappuzha National Waterway, Alumkadavu is place that can mesmerize you with if nature's bounty.


Thangassery: 
A beautiful beach town, The town is famous for its beautiful and clean beach and a 44 meters tall light house that provides the most amazing views of the city.


Thenmala: 
The first planned eco-tourism destination in India, Thenmala is located by the Kallanda River and is famous for being a favorite shooting location for Tamil and Malayalam films.


Munroe Island: 
Munroe Island is a famous tourist destination located in the backwaters of Asthamudi River. The island is home to a plethora of attractions including Watersports, fishing, boat racing and watching migratory birds etc.


Anandavalleswaram temple:
Anandavalleswaram Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The temple has a charm that will mesmerise you to the core. The temple is a peaceful place to spend some time away from the usual life. The structure of the Anandavalleswaram Temple makes it an attractive monument.

Paravur lake:
Paravur Lake is a great place if you are looking for a fun filled day with your friends and family in kollam. The beautiful lake is located in Paravur and is a good way to relax amidst the spectacular views.
