Ooty, is a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Surrounded by trees, central Ooty Lake is a huge artificial expanse of water
with pleasure boats. On the slopes of nearby Elk Hill, the Rose Garden is home
to over 2,000 varieties of roses.

Botanical Garden:
- The Ooty Botanical gardens are a 10 min walk from Charing Cross and a half hour walk from the Lake. When you enter you will see a vast expanse of lawn like a golf course, going steeply uphill.
- There are a variety of trees and shrubs as well as some conservatories with exotic ferns and flowering plants. The Gardens have around a thousand species, both exotic and indigenous, of plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants.
Doddabetta Peak :
- Start the 2-mile (3-kilometer) ascent of Doddabetta Mountain along rugged, winding paths that lead into open fields.
- Your journey will pass long, grassy slopes lined with rows of ferns and sub-alpine herbs that fill the fresh air with rich aromas. As you approach the peak you will notice that it holds a slightly curved flat surface.
Tea Museum:
- Tea Museum offers you the delicious exhibition of different tea types. As Nilgiri Mountain boasts of being India’s second-largest hill station bounded by tea gardens, this is a heaven for tea-lovers.
- Owing to its splendid charm Dodabetta Tea Museum can rightfully be addressed as one of the best places to visit in Ooty.
Dolphin’s Nose:
- Dolphin’s Nose is a viewpoint situated more than 1,000 feet above sea level. It is a popular tourist spot located in Coonoor and offers breathtaking views.
- Dolphin’s Nose is a unique rock formation and its peak resembles a dolphin’s nose from where it gets its name. The drive up to Dolphin’s Nose is quite spectacular and one can also enjoy wonderful views of tea plantations on the way and from the peak.
Rose Garden:
- Rose Garden is the largest rose garden in India. It is situated on the slopes of the Elk Hill in Vijayanagaram of Ootytown in Tamil Nadu.
- Today this garden has more than 20,000 varieties of roses of 2,800 cultivars. It is one of the largest collection of roses in India.
Emerald lake:
- The Lake is an important picnic spot for the tourists. The lake is home to a variety of fishes popping up in groups all over the lake. Children will definitely enjoy watching the different kinds of fishes.
- Emerald Lake is also a heaven for a variety of birds. It is a mini paradise for bird lovers as they get to see and study a number of native birds. It’s a delight to watch the colorful birds flock around and giving you a mesmerizing feeling.
- Sun rise and sun set is an important event that should never be missed. It is a pleasing experience to see the Dawn and the Dusk of the day right in front of you at Emerald Lake.
